My Walkable Neighborhood
A while ago this Walk Score thing was everywhere on the internets…. My neighborhood gets an 86 out of 100, and it is actually QUITE walkable. I’m not sure why it doesn’t list bus accessibility or car co-ops, we have both!! And it doesn’t assess general level of crunchiness, which is VERY high in my neighborhood (maybe you could create some algorithm for percentage of population who are involved in city politics + number of kids with lesbian parents at the preschool + number of fair trade signs in windows + number of alternative health practitioners in the neighborhood to assess this — all of which, to me, are good things).
Anyway, walking is good. We should do it more often. And I am really trying to, not just to do my daily business but to get myself moving more in general.
