Tea time
My sister is a big tea drinker, and she’s recently moved to a place where we are able to see her much more often. And when we see her she’s usually drinking tea! Trying out some of the delicious kinds she has, along with talking about tea with a couple friends recently, got me thinking that I need to get a kettle and pot.
And then, my daughter saw that my sister and I were drinking tea out of fancy cups - cups my sis bought at a local vintage shop for 50 cents apiece - but my daughter loved it and wanted to have a tea party (the same sister actually gave her a teensy tiny little fairy porcelain tea set for the holidays, so she was primed for the tea party idea).
So now I think that I need to get a couple cute, fancy vintage cups and saucers, a couple regular ones, and a kettle and pot, and some great tea, and begin a teatime tradition with my daughter, at least on the weekends. My own taste leans toward the modern and/or handcrafted artsy ceramics, but I know my daughter would love something pink or purple with flowers:
Bodum’s website says that electric kettles save energy… my mom wanted to get me one because it’s one less pan to get dirty… they’re not as pretty and ritual-y as a stovetop one, though.
I like Bodum’s glass teaware, including these minimalist bistro cups and this lovely (expensive) tea pot.
This glass pot from target is nice. This green retro set is also nice. But… I’m going to stay on the lookout.
